Who Knew

I never thought the day would come when I would make a blog, I have never really enjoyed the thought of blogging (at heart I am still a journaler), but seeing as how I will be leaving in less than 3 months for Burkina Faso I thought I would start to share the things God is teaching me up until that point (and on of course). Recently I have been wrestling with God, wanting to cling to the things that I think will benefit me rather than surrendering anything to Him. And my prayer has been 'God change me now, into the person you need me to be before I go,' though said verbally, my heart has been unwilling to allow Him to do so. Then the other morning I was reading in a book Don Svenson (props to you) gave me a few years back called; Streams in the Desert and this is what I read;

"Follow me and I will make you...
Make you speak My words with power,
Make you vessels of My mercy,
Make you helpful every hour.

Follow me and I will make you...
Make you what you cannot be-
Make you loving, trustful, godly,
Make you even just like me."

I am constantly learning that God has so much planned that I fail to see everyday because I am so caught up in following myself, my ideas, my plans, etc. Rather than just saying 'here I am God, change me.' There is still a lot left unlearned.
